Each MI-TS-3871 system combines a Basic DC-Source module (power rating) with a separate DC-Converter module (channel count and current rating). The Basic DC-Source is available in nine power levels from 60 kW to 650 kW; the DC voltage class matched to each power level is shown below (6 classes, 300-1500 V overall). The DC-Converter is chosen independently for 2 or 4 channels and 200-1200 A; two examples are shown below, the full range is configured to order. Options add insulation monitoring (including selective per-channel monitoring), increased insulation resistance, and additional fieldbus interfaces. Voltage and power are chosen, not fixed
Six DC voltage classes from 300 V to 1500 V and power from 60 kW to 650 kW per channel let the configuration match the test object instead of the other way round.
Selective insulation monitoring isolates faults per channel
A channel with an insulation fault switches off on its own, without stopping the other channels; this option requires special software and a PDSB.
Energy recycled directly between channels via the internal DC bus
One channel can source while another sinks, with energy flowing straight between them through the DC converters instead of round-tripping through the AC grid, which then only supplies or absorbs the net difference — useful with a limited grid connection or when managing AC peak loads, and the basis for using a 2-channel MI-TS-3871 as a HiL test bench for DC/DC converters.
