Asterion ASC Series — High-Performance AC Power Source
The California Instruments Asterion ASC Series is a high-power programmable AC-only power source housed in 4U and 14U chassis, covering 4.5 kVA to 36 kVA. Building on the full Asterion platform, the ASC Series adds a wider dual voltage range (up to 312 VAC) and higher current ratings optimised for demanding applications such as avionics, industrial power conversion and compliance testing.

The Asterion ASC Series targets engineers and test labs that need high-power AC sources with exceptional output quality. The wider voltage range (up to 312 VAC) makes it ideal for testing equipment intended for 220/230 V single-phase or 400 V three-phase grids. The -ADV measurement option transforms the ASC into a combined source and power quality analyzer, providing detailed harmonic spectral data for IEC pre-compliance testing. AMETEK's proprietary transient engine enables precise simulation of voltage sags, surges and interruptions with 500 µs resolution, meeting the requirements of EN 61000-4-11. The ASC's ATE version integrates cleanly into automated test racks via the Virtual Panels GUI and digital interfaces.
