The Sorensen/California Instruments Asterion AC Series is a high-performance, multi-chassis programmable AC and DC power source available in 1U, 2U, 4U and 14U rack formats. Covering output power from 500 VA up to 18 kVA per chassis — and up to 36 kVA when paralleled — it delivers single-phase, split-phase and three-phase AC output as well as DC output, combining a precision power source with an integrated power analyzer.

The Asterion AC Series is the cornerstone programmable AC/DC source for laboratories needing flexible, high-accuracy power in a compact form factor. Its DSP-controlled architecture delivers low total harmonic distortion at the output and precise voltage and frequency regulation. The iX2 constant-power characteristic ensures full rated power remains available even when operating at reduced output voltages — ideal for testing devices that draw high peak currents at low voltages. The integrated power analyzer eliminates the need for a separate measurement instrument: harmonic content, crest factor, power factor, apparent power and RMS values are all available in real time on the front panel display. Advanced sequences of voltage and frequency transients can be programmed and stored for repeatable test automation. The Asterion AC is used across avionics, telecommunications, commercial electronics R&D, production test and EMC pre-compliance.

iX2 Constant-Power Output

Current doubles linearly as voltage decreases from 100% to 50% of range, maintaining full rated power for high-crest-factor loads.

Integrated Power Analyzer

Measures harmonics up to 50th order, crest factor, power factor and THD in real time — no separate analyzer needed.
