DCU Discharge Unit
Key Features
- Discharge resistor, thyristor and control unit in one module
- Installed in a PDSB or in its own dedicated cabinet
- Activates automatically when test-object voltage exceeds a set threshold and the I-TS can no longer regulate it
- On normal shutdown, discharge can be routed via mains feedback or via the DCU, or omitted, as configured
- Resistance values of 1.5 Ohm or 2.0 Ohm, for 670 kWs or 500 kWs energy content respectively
- Multiple DCUs can be used in parallel for test objects with higher energy content

DCU Discharge Unit
The DCU consists of a discharge resistor, a thyristor and a control unit, installed either in a PDSB or in its own cabinet. It activates when the voltage at the test object exceeds a set value and the I-TS can no longer regulate it — for example due to insufficient power, a mains failure, or the DCW being switched off.Who Is the DCU For?
Test engineers whose battery or high-energy test objects need a defined, automatic discharge path when the I-TS system can no longer regulate the test-object voltage — a safety function rather than a routine operating mode.Available Models & Accessories
The DCU is available as a freestanding cabinet (CAB-DCU, 1, 2 or 4 units of 1.5 or 2.0 Ohm) or as a module for installation in a PDSB ((M)ITS-PDSB-DCU, 1.5 or 2.0 Ohm).Automatic protection when the I-TS can't regulate
The DCU triggers on its own when test-object voltage exceeds a set limit, covering insufficient power, mains failure and DCW shutdown without operator action.
Once triggered, it fully discharges the test object
This is a deliberate, non-reversible safety action, so the resistor must be matched to the DUT's energy content and a cooling-off period is needed before reuse.
Fits inside the PDSB or stands alone
(M)ITS-PDSB-DCU variants share a cabinet with the distribution hardware, while CAB-DCU variants are freestanding for setups without a PDSB.
Parallel DCUs handle higher-energy test objects
For a test object beyond a single unit's rating, multiple DCUs can be combined rather than substituting a single oversized unit.
