i-BEAM Series — Bidirectional DC Power System (60 kW – 1.3 MW)
The Sorensen i-BEAM Series is a high-power bidirectional regenerative DC power system covering 60 kW to 1.3 MW. Available in air-cooled and liquid-cooled variants, with 1-channel, 2-channel and 4-channel configurations and bidirectional current up to ±2,400 A with 96% energy recovery.

The i-BEAM Series addresses the upper end of bidirectional power requirements — where 60 kW to 1.3 MW of continuous bidirectional DC power is needed for vehicle-level EV powertrain testing, large-format battery pack qualification, aerospace power system validation and grid-scale energy storage evaluation. The 96% regenerative efficiency means that less than 4% of the absorbed energy is dissipated as heat — making continuous multi-hour charge/discharge cycles economically and thermally practical at MW scale. Liquid cooling options extend deployment into environments where air cooling at these power levels would be impractical.
