Sequoia Series — Precision Programmable Regenerative Grid Simulator
The California Instruments Sequoia Series is a four-quadrant, regenerative precision programmable AC/DC source and grid simulator covering 15 kVA to 1.08 MVA. The Sequoia can both source and absorb power — making it simultaneously an AC/DC power source, a grid simulator and a regenerative electronic load.

The Sequoia represents the highest capability tier in the Tahoe/Sequoia platform. Four-quadrant regenerative operation means that when acting as an electronic load, the Sequoia returns absorbed energy to the supply mains rather than dissipating it as heat — a critical advantage at power levels from tens to hundreds of kVA. As a grid simulator, the Sequoia can precisely reproduce real-world grid conditions including voltage sags, swells, frequency deviations, phase imbalances and harmonic distortion — all essential for testing photovoltaic inverters, EV chargers, energy storage systems and smart grid equipment to standards such as IEC 61727, IEEE 1547 and UL 1741.
