The California Instruments Tahoe Series is a high-power, two-quadrant precision programmable AC and DC source covering 15 kVA to 1.08 MVA. Built on silicon-carbide (SiC) switching technology, the Tahoe delivers high efficiency and exceptional waveform fidelity for demanding AC and DC power simulation and product test applications.

The Tahoe Series addresses applications where a high-quality, high-power AC/DC source is needed without the cost premium of full regenerative (four-quadrant) operation. It covers frequency conversion, avionics power bus simulation, high-power product test, burn-in and industrial drive testing. SiC technology significantly reduces switching losses compared to IGBT-based predecessors, resulting in lower cooling requirements and higher overall system efficiency. Up to six 45 kVA units or twelve 90 kVA units can be connected in parallel, reaching 270 kVA and 1.08 MVA respectively. The Tahoe shares the same user interface, control software and mechanical platform as the Sequoia, simplifying lab management when both series are deployed.
