AIAD Air Interface Emulator
The AIAD air interface adapter emulates the radio propagation path between base stations and mobile devices with a network of solid-state programmable attenuators, so mobile-radio handover, interoperability and interference scenarios can be tested reproducibly in the lab instead of over the air.Who Is the AIAD For?
Mobile-radio and wireless-device manufacturers and test labs that need to run handover, interoperability or interference test scenarios between base stations and mobile devices under controlled, repeatable lab conditions.Available Models & Accessories
AIAD-X/Y denotes the configurable matrix size, with X base-station inputs and Y mobile-device outputs; the exact port count is selected per application. A fixed 8/8 configuration (AIAD 8/8, 0.5-4 GHz) is also available as a ready-built alternative to a custom-configured matrix. A companion Windows program is available for programming handover ramp tests.Reproducible radio-channel emulation, not raw over-the-air testing.
AIAD attenuates each base-station-to-mobile-device path individually and repeatably, removing dependence on ambient radio conditions.
Covers 2G through 5G FR1 in one platform.
400-8000 MHz spans GSM, UMTS, LTE and 5G FR1, plus Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and TETRA.
Break-free, calibration-free switching.
Solid-state attenuators switch attenuation steps continuously without interrupting the signal path, and need no recalibration in normal use.
Designed around a known RF safety risk.
MTS documents the correct use of fixed pre-attenuators at each base-station output, addressing the real risk of a BTS's high output power leaking into the surrounding area or exceeding the AIAD's own input rating.
