AMETEK Programmable Power has launched the Sorensen Asterion DC Half Rack Series (ASH) — a 1.7 kW programmable DC power supply in a compact 1U half rack chassis. We are pleased to add it to our AC/DC power portfolio at Electrometric.
What Is the Asterion DC Half Rack?
The ASH delivers up to 1,700 W with output voltage from 40 V to 600 V and current from 2.8 A to 42 A — in a chassis that is 50% narrower and 50% lighter than the full-rack 1.7 kW Asterion. It runs on standard single-phase AC input, requires no 3-phase infrastructure, and is available in fixed range and autoranging configurations. Autoranging models follow a constant-power curve across a wider V/I range, meaning a single unit can cover more test scenarios without purchasing additional models.
Rack Efficiency: 3.4 kW in One Rack Unit
Two ASH units mount side by side in a single 1U slot using the optional rackmount kit — delivering 3.4 kW of independently controllable DC power in one rack unit. Ideal for high-density ATE systems, benchtop validation labs, and modular test platforms.
Full Asterion Platform — Same Interface, Same Ecosystem
The Half Rack shares the same architecture as the full Asterion family: front panel touchscreen with rotary encoder, LXI LAN / USB / RS-232 standard interfaces (GPIB and EtherCAT optional), full remote control via Asterion Virtual Panels, and a complete protection suite including programmable OVP, foldback modes, and overtemperature protection. Existing Asterion users need zero retraining.

Available Models
Nine fixed range models (ASH 40-42 through ASH 600-2.8) and three autoranging models (ASH 60-42AR, ASH 200-17AR, ASH 400-6AR), all rated at 1,700 W. Certified calibration available to ANSI Z540 and ISO 17025.
